In 2003, a dedicated group of youth serving organizations began a process of planning and implementing a 12,500 square-foot youth center that would draw youth from throughout Marin County, provide a range of engaging youth development activities, and encourage youth leadership and community service.

The Marin Community Foundation is the primary supporter of The MYC. It owns the building where the center is located, funded the recent refurbishing of the building, and provides grants to BACR to coordinate the programming for the center. Intel and Autodesk have helped to equip and run the Computer Clubhouse.
